It’s hard for those of us in the developed world to imagine that there are children today without access to an education.
Who We Are
Friends Helping Others is a non-profit organization bringing school desks, books and school supplies to children and schools in developing nations. We direct 100% of online donations to funding project costs, and enriching the educational futures of children in areas with the greatest need. In 2011 we also started funding micro-finance programs in communities surrounding the schools we have supported.
Those of us who grew up taking our education for granted understand that for a child to reach his or her full potential, it’s critical that they receive a basic education. The world has made great progress for children in education – yet more than 75 million children worldwide still lack the funds to go to school. In Ethiopia it is estimated that 61% of female and 38% of male adolescents between 15 and 24 are illiterate .¹
We want you to meet some of the children in the world who could benefit from your help. They didn't choose to be born in a village without a school. They didn't choose to be born in a country where there is little funding for education. Take a moment to imagine yourself in their situation. Imagine walking up to 5 kilometers (over 3 miles) each day to attend school. Imagine not being able to afford pens, notebooks and books. Imagine sitting on dirt floors or mud benches because there are no desks. These children simply need a little help.
All donations are 100% tax deductible. Click here to download a pdf of our 501c3 documentation from the IRS.
